1. Encourage your child to ask questions and wonder about the world around him/her.
2. Model your own thinking process by asking questions out loud, hypothesizing, observing, gathering data, and drawing conclusions.
3. Ask your child questions and encourage him/her to use the scientific thinking process.
4. Provide opportunities for your child to compare and contrast, and categorize a variety of objects such as money, shells, buttons, jewelry etc...The possibilities are endless.
5. Observe and discuss the attributes (color, size, shape, etc...) of things found in clothing, nature, home, business.
6. Plan outings to local museums, regional parks, and beaches to observe nature.
