1. Share stories about your heritage, family and ancestors.

2. Involve your child in historical and social science activities as they occur in the family setting, i.e. elections, multicultural celebrations, community services and projects.

3. Encourage your child to use a map and atlas.

4. Read biographies of people who have made a difference (artists, scientists, inventors, writers, presidents, etc..)

5. Share and discuss appropriate current event articles in the newspaper.

6. Take your child with you when you vote so that they can experience the democratic process in action.
